Forced air cooling with integrated axial or radial fans enables up to 631 Nm maximum torque, suitable for continuous high-power operation — and the fan motor itself is rated IP65. Water cooling delivers up to 583 Nm maximum torque and offers the most efficient heat dissipation, making it the best choice for applications with the highest continuous power demands.

• Flexible Encoder Systems — Standard and high-precision encoder grades are available, supporting both single-turn and multi-turn absolute position feedback. The encoders utilize Hiperface and EnDat 2.1 interfaces with optical measurement technologies, offering resolution from 128 up to 2,048 signal periods to match the accuracy requirements of any application. The encoder connector can be rotated 240 degrees for flexible cable routing in tight machine layouts.

• High Protection & Harsh Environment Ready — Standard IP65 protection rating per IEC 60529 ensures the motor is completely protected against dust ingress and resistant to water jets, making it suitable for washdown environments in food processing, packaging, and outdoor installations. ATEX-certified variants (Equipment Group II, Category 3, for Zones 2 and 22) are also available for use in potentially explosive atmospheres with flammable gases or combustible dust.

• Rich Optional Accessories — A wide range of accessories enables customized configurations. Options include keyway shafts for positive torque transmission, electrically-released holding brakes (up to 10 Nm or higher), increased concentricity for ultra-precision applications, rotatable encoder connectors, sealing rings for fluid protection, and various coating options.

• Advanced Thermal Protection — Dual temperature monitoring systems protect the motor from overheating. An integrated KTY84 temperature sensor is embedded in the stator windings, complemented by a temperature model that triggers protective actions at specified thresholds. This ensures the motor is safely operated and prevents irreversible thermal overload damage that could reduce motor life.

• Data Memory for Quick Commissioning — The encoder features built-in data memory that stores motor type information, control loop parameters, and motor characteristics. This enables the drive controller to automatically detect and configure the motor upon startup, dramatically reducing commissioning time and eliminating manual parameter entry errors.

• Cooling Type Guide:

• The MSK series is available with three cooling methods, each offering different performance characteristics.

• Self-cooling (natural convection) is the standard option. Heat is dissipated to the ambient air and the machine body structure. This type is best suited for applications with intermittent duty cycles or lower continuous torque requirements. It achieves maximum torque up to 495 Nm and maximum speeds up to 9,000 rpm.

• Forced air cooling integrates an axial or radial fan that continuously directs airflow across the motor housing. This significantly improves heat dissipation, allowing maximum torque up to 631 Nm and speeds up to 6,000 rpm. The fan motor itself is rated IP65, matching the motor's protection rating. This cooling type is recommended for continuous high-power operation and is available with retrofit blower units for existing installations.

• Water cooling provides the most efficient heat dissipation, allowing maximum torque up to 583 Nm and speeds up to 6,000 rpm. By circulating cooling water through the motor housing, this method keeps temperatures stable even under extreme continuous loads. It is the preferred choice for applications with the highest power density requirements and limited ambient space for air circulation.

• Encoder System Options:

• The MSK series supports a comprehensive range of encoder systems to match varying precision requirements.

• Encoders using optical measurement technology are offered with either Hiperface or EnDat 2.1 interfaces. These provide absolute position feedback in both single-turn and multi-turn configurations. Single-turn encoders are ideal for limited rotation applications, while multi-turn encoders maintain absolute position across multiple rotations — perfect for complex machines with long travel distances.

• Two accuracy grades are available — standard precision and high precision — allowing customers to select the appropriate level based on their application's tolerance requirements. Resolution ranges from 128 signal periods (Hiperface) up to an impressive 2,048 signal periods (EnDat 2.1), delivering exceptional positioning accuracy for demanding applications.

• The encoder connector is designed with a 240-degree rotation capability, providing installation flexibility for cable routing in confined spaces.
